History of the Orchestra
The idea for the Salon Orchestra was conceived in 2006 at a party on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of chamber orchestra Sinfonietta Voorschoten. A number of players thought it would be a good idea to play some salon music at the party. This turned out to be so successful that it was decided to continue.
Over time the ties with Sinfonietta Voorschoten have loosened and the membership of the orchestra has changed. Currently other players have joined as well: members of a wind quintet, former and present members of the Van Wassenaer Orchestra and the Delft Symphony Orchestra. Members come from Voorschoten, Wassenaar, Oegstgeest, Leiden and Leiderdorp.
